131 Saddletramp. Get your facts right- matches are as reported by BBC
No mention on here, of course, that this means Tranmere - with far less resources - will now have to play Thursday / Saturday / Tuesday...
Let's face it, if it's not Premier League or Women's football our national broadcaster doesn't want to know.Web coverage of lower leagues is abysmal. URLs only from scrolling to the last 1/4 of the football page.No wonder it's such a poor - PL centric piece
@106 if you gave Liverpool, City, Chelsea etc a choice - play their first XI or buy their way out of the League Cup - paying an their presence would typically generate over and above, say, Walsall - they'd play. Therefore the fault for fixture congestion lies a bit closer to home than "the FA" or "The Football League", because they money they make from the competition matters to the big clubs.
This story is all bull. The FA cup game is being played on the 25th,(4th round day)
@119 - "Lower league team is always placed at home against higher league opposition, guarantees them more revenue."Actually, it's usually better for the lower league team to play away, as the FA Cup rules dictate that the gate receipts for the game have to be shared equally between the two teams.
Does watford bit of favour...no midweek game...can concentrate on prem sat v spurs..so got a break...they got no interest in cup anyways.staying up is main point....
All easy fixtures for watford, should beat the first three games
It might have been harsh on Tranmere I admit, but couldn't this game not have been played tomorrow at say 1300 - if conditions permitted?
@62: "... but millions around the world don't watch them on the media do they?"So you approve that the people who keep us entertained are considered to be worth so much more than those who actually keep the economy functioning?
Called off a bigger game the day before, anyway play a similar team to the Final last season and you can concentrate on the League .
Oh no! How will the poor young overpaid rich kids ever survive that horrifying scenario?!
Why on earth don't they play it tomorrow or Thursday, instead of packing 4 games between the next 2 weekends???
Basically 2 games in 4 days as Watford will play a 2nd XI for the cup game(s).
Let's face it, they'll make 11 changes anyway.
