Atalanta 1-3 Juventus: Gonzalo Higuain scores twice as Serie A leaders win

Gonzalo Higuain has scored five goals in 15 appearances for Juventus this season

Gonzalo Higuain scored twice as champions Juventus produced a late comeback against Atalanta to maintain their grip on top spot in Serie A.

Higuain cancelled out Robin Gosens' opener for Atalanta in the 74th minute before completing the turnaround with a second eight minutes later.

Paulo Dybala then sealed the points for Maurizio Sarri's side in injury time.

Sarri's team are one point ahead of Antonio Conte's Inter Milan, who won 3-0 at Torino.

Musa Barrow missed a first-half penalty for Atalanta, awarded following a handball by Sami Khedira, and Juventus keeper Wojciech Szczesny was forced into a good save by Mario Pasalic as the hosts threatened to take a surprise lead.

Gosens eventually did just that, heading Atalanta ahead from Barrow's cross after 56 minutes - but Higuain's deflected goal sparked Juventus into life.

The Argentine made no mistake when picked out by Juan Cuadrado eight minutes from time, and Higuain turned provider as his compatriot Dybala weaved through the hosts' defence for his side's third.

In the day's late Serie A kick-off, Inter eased to victory against Torino after first-half goals from Lautaro Martinez and Stefan de Vrij put the visitors firmly in control.

Former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku's precise finish - his 10th goal in 13 league games this season - put the result beyond doubt.
