FA Cup: Wrexham 0-0 Rochdale

Wrexham held League One Rochdale to a stalemate at the Racecourse Ground to earn a replay and remain in the draw for the second round of the FA Cup.

A crowd of over 3000 were in attendance for what was a tense encounter.

Mark Harris came closest for the hosts and might have won the contest in added on time but saw his shot saved.

Both sides also had penalty shouts waved away as Rochdale held on to secure a result that will make them favourites to advance in the replay.

Wrexham boss Dean Keates:

"We are disappointed that we have not got the victory and just our own name in the hat.

"We created chances, made their goalkeeper work and had a couple of penalty shouts.

"We knew today was going to be a difficult game for us. It was totally different to what we normally face in our division."

Rochdale manager Brian Barry-Murphy:

"It felt like it was a proper cup tie at a ground where we have seen plenty of them before and we are delighted to still be in the draw.

"We got exactly what we thought we would get and for large parts of the game we had to defend resolutely.

"They gave us loads of problems, but we had chances of our own and phases of the game where we were good."
