Match ends, Huddersfield Town 1, Millwall 1.
Huddersfield Town ended their seven-game losing run, but had to settle for a point as they were held to a draw at home by 10-man Millwall.
Fraizer Campbell put the Terriers ahead with his first goal for the club from Karlan Grant's cut-back.
But Millwall levelled when keeper Kamil Grabara failed to hold a corner seconds after superbly saving Ryan Leonard's 30-yarder, and Matt Smith forced home the equaliser.
Chances were scarce after the break, but Millwall had to hang on after Shane Ferguson was sent off for a foul on Adama Diakhaby, who curled the resulting free-kick just wide.
The point, Huddersfield's first under new manager Danny Cowley, lifted them off the bottom of the Championship above Stoke City on goal difference.
Cowley gave a debut to former Leicester full-back Danny Simpson, brought in as a free agent, who was a steadying influence in defence.
Jed Wallace went close for Millwall after a quick break, but the action moved to the other end and Campbell sidefooted into the corner of the net.
Elias Kachunga had a header saved by Bartosz Bialkowski before Smith brought Millwall level, tapping home on the goal-line after the ball slipped through Grabara's hands.
Huddersfield substitute Juninho Bacuna forced a low stop from Bialkowski in the second half, but the hosts could not make their numerical advantage count after Ferguson's dismissal, with Jaden Brown whistling an angled shot just wide.
Huddersfield manager Danny Cowley:
"We could easily have gone under after conceding the goal.
"If we'd carried on playing the way we did in the first half then we would have lost the game and not been able to have lived with ourselves.
"But we played with fortitude and I'm really proud of them in that second half."
Millwall manager Neil Harris:
"We've not won a game we quite fancied winning. The positive is that we've got a point, although I'm fully aware we've not won again and the critics will throw that at my team.
"But the reality is really setting in that every point we gain this year we're going to have to earn, I've said that to my players.
"It's a point gained and we will build on that momentum for the trip to Luton on Wednesday night."
