I think if Rafa manages until 100, he will not win the Champions League.
Lolz....”always we are forward thinking”. Even when the fat waiter was at the big clubs his style of football was boring and defensive. He’ll never win anything again because the big clubs have wised up to how bad a manager he is.
Go back to Liverpool Rafa, they are getting too big for their boots and need bringing down a peg or a dozen.
Well with skinflint Mike Ashley as Chairman I'd have to say that Benitez has to leave Newcastle then.Newcastle would need £100m in transfer funds for the next 4 yrs to compete at the top level. As for winning the CL in 11yrs....Really ??? More like 111 yrs !!!If fans want Rafa to stay then they need to organise a stay-away protest.Only way Ashley will sell Club....hit his pocket !
at LFC Rafa use to sign a lot of players, half would be poor, the other half would become top quality, he therefore needs funds to invest, BUT he would work out rarely quickly if player good enough or not, & ship him out & get a fee back for the player. His net spend was actually very good, but he needs funds first! If he had Fulham/Everton funds he'd be 7th & next season top 6!
Good luck to him.
Not being a Newcastle fan myself, I have nothing but respect for the club and the fans, the situation with the owner is just awful. But they'll stick it out, he won't be there forever. It would be nice if Rafa stuck around, but nobody could blame the man if he moved on.Good luck for the future, and I hope some decent owners replace the current one, it would be nice to see Newcastle back.
@196 ciceroWell he kinda did. Trouble is "the club" now owes shed loads to Ashley (who owns the club!?).so he hasn't really balanced the books at all. the club just owes him money instead of other people. And his other business' got shed loads of free advertising at the time and this was never paid to the club. so he screwed us out of revenue for many years
Right lads let’s not forget what makes a true football fan. A sense of humour. Too many people take offence these days. I’ve been to most grounds as a nufc fan and a lot as a neutral. I’ve not got one bad thing to say about any set of fans other than in good natured banter with the lads. Chill out man it’s a lovely day. TC117 Don’t believe a word.
Champions League?Yes, he can win itI just wonder which club it will be with?
Where is Newcastle? I know where Sunderland is.. Big club and all that.. 😉
@194TC117some fans are idiots. dont believe all fans wanted Pardew out.Truth is he was wrongly percieved as a lapdog for Ashley as he wouldn't stand up to him. how is it Pardews job to somehow convince owner to change ways and then be blamed when he couldn't?Rafa is working under the same rules, its only a matter of time before he has enough lies and moves on also i fear.......
Ashley sorted the dire economics of Newcastle United when he became the owner, spending big money on players is not a guarantee for success, look at manu.if Ashley had been in charge of brexit, they would have been paying us
@194 TC117yes a few fans are idiots. it happens in all clubs.Pardew became the fall guy for Ashley. A few fans thought he was Ashley lapdog and that somehow Pardew should have stood up to Ashley?!?not sure how he was supposed to do that! - Pardew did well as has Rafa under the restrictions of Ashley.Pardew left as couldn't work anymore, Rafa will be on his way soon i fear......
@180 State of PlayA friend regularly lent me his season ticket for St James' Park when he couldn't attend. That was when Pardew was in charge. Despite them doing reasonably well in the league an idiot in the stands behind me would spend the whole 90 minutes shouting abuse at Pardew for being a Cockney.
The trouble is to make the CL requires a quantum leap in investment. The top 6 have pulled the drawbridge up. No way is Ashley going to raise the level of investment he is too busy trying to buy the high street and is doing cartwheels because Newcastle are in profit.
Got more chance of winning Champions League on Fifa!
He is way too good for united but irrespective would never want the job. Man utd job that is.
