Shrewsbury Town 2-3 Oxford United

Gavin Whyte struck a fine hat-trick as 10-man Oxford stunned hosts Shrewsbury.

Oxford midfielder Ahmed Kashi was sent off in the first half but Whyte completed his treble after the interval as the visitors overturned a 2-1 half-time deficit.

Ollie Norburn, from the penalty spot, and Greg Docherty were on target for a Shrewsbury side four points and five places clear of the relegation zone with two games to play.

Oxford started brightly and took a sixth-minute lead when Whyte guided a shot past Jonathan Mitchell from 12 yards.

Shrewsbury equalised in the 17th minute, skipper Norburn making no mistake from the penalty spot after Shaun Whalley was upended by Curtis Nelson.

Oxford were reduced to 10 men after 36 minutes when Kashi was dismissed for a challenge on Tyrese Campbell.

Shrewsbury were in front four minutes later as Docherty, on loan from Rangers, collected a cross from Campbell and found the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.

But Oxford completed a second-half turnaround as Whyte burst clear to equalise in the 72nd minute and six minutes later he did the same again with another cool finish giving Karl Robinson's side all three points.
