Salford City 1-3 Dover Athletic

Dennis Politic scored a goal reminiscent of new Salford co-owner David Beckham but Dover fought back to boost their survival hopes with a surprise away win.

Beckham bought a 10% stake in the club last month, joining former Manchester United team-mates Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville and Paul Scholes as co-owners.

And the 43-year-old was in the stands at the Peninsula Stadium for the first time to see Politic open the scoring in style in the ninth minute.

Beckham scored from the halfway line for United against Wimbledon in 1996 and Politic took a leaf out of his book, producing a 45-yard drive that sailed over goalkeeper Mitch Walker.

Carl Piergianni almost doubled the lead, having a header cleared off the line, but Dover soon turned the game around to move two points above the relegation zone.

Dan McNamara slotted in the equaliser after Chris Neal parried Inih Effiong's shot, Scott Doe headed home Bobby-Joe Taylor's cross in the 59th minute and Jai Reason found the net with a 25-yard effort late on.

Tom Walker hit the crossbar in added time for Salford, who slipped to fifth place in the National League table.
