Exeter City 3-1 Milton Keynes Dons

Paul Tisdale's return to Exeter ended in a nightmare as his MK Dons side were comprehensively beaten at St James Park.

Tisdale was back in Devon for the first time since ending his 12-year spell in charge of the Grecians in June 2018.

Exeter went in front in the seventh minute when Jonathan Forte's cross was turned in from close range by Nicky Law to give the hosts a dream start.

It got even better on 17 minutes when captain Jake Taylor beautifully took down a poor clearance and placed a delightful finish into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

Law should have made it 3-0 when he burst through on goal after some lovely stuff from the Grecians, while a David Wheeler header high over the bar when the score was 1-0 was the closest the Dons came to scoring in the first half.

However, the visitors made a strong start to the second half and pulled one back through Joe Walsh's thumping header on 48 minutes.

Chuks Aneke headed another effort straight at home keeper Christy Pym and Wheeler was off target with another effort, while Forte and Taylor fired straight at Lee Nicholls with good chances for Exeter.

Exeter went 3-1 up when Law took advantage of a horrendous mix-up involving Walsh and Nicholls and poked the ball into an empty net to complete a superb win for the Grecians against their promotion rivals.
