Alloa Athletic 1-2 Greenock Morton: Own goal completes comeback win

Kerr Waddell's odd own goal gave the home side maximum points

Kerr Waddell's bizarre own goal helped Alloa Athletic come from behind to beat Morton and stretch their unbeaten run to six games.

Rory McKeown's attempted clearance hit Dario Zanatta and spun along the goal-line, where Waddell could only blast it into the roof of his own net.

Morton had taken a first-half lead through Chris Millar's 20-yard strike.

Alan Trouten levelled from the penalty spot, after Ryan Scully's foul on him, before the unusual winner.

Jim Goodwin's part-time side, who move six points clear of the relegation play-off spot, have not tasted defeat since 1 December.

Morton were aiming to make it three consecutive wins but drop two places to sixth in a congested middle section of the table.

Alloa Athletic manager Jim Goodwin: "I don't think anyone will say we didn't deserve to win. We were camped in their half for the whole of the second half. The players never give up.

"Alan Trouten is a fantastic player. His footballing brain is just magnificent - the spaces he picks up, some of the passes he sees. He's 33 and looks like a 25-year-old."

Morton manager Jonatan Johansson: "I've never seen a goal like that, even when I was a kid. It's a terrible goal to lose. You can't say anything else.

"We should have cleared it better and Kerr needs to just kick it out. That's the hardest defeat so because we were in control after the first half."
