Highlights: Queens Park Rangers 2-1 Leeds United

Queens Park Rangers reached the fourth round of the FA Cup with a hard-fought victory over fellow Championship side Leeds United at Loftus Road.

After Leeds striker Tyler Roberts had struck both posts just 33 seconds in, Aramide Oteh put QPR in front from the spot after Jake Bidwell was fouled.

Aapo Halme equalised only two minutes later, tapping home from close range.

But Bidwell scored the winner with 15 minutes left, heading in to send Marcelo Bielsa's league leaders out.

Leeds are currently top of the second tier despite losing their past two Championship matches - against Hull City and Nottingham Forest - and they have now lost three in a row for the first time since January 2018.

They enjoyed the majority of possession against QPR but, aside from Roberts' early near miss, struggled to carve out many clear openings.

Steve McClaren's hosts, who are ninth in the table, may even have made it 3-1 late on but Luke Freeman's free-kick hit the post.

QPR will take part in the fourth round for the first time since 2013 - having won an FA Cup tie without needing a replay for the first time since 1997, when Trevor Sinclair's overhead kick helped knock out Barnsley.

Leeds hit both posts within 30 seconds of kick-off

QPR manager Steve McClaren:

"We've got a lot of injuries but this showed the depth of the squad. The youngsters have worked hard, had to wait for their opportunities, and this shows the future is bright.

"Cups are exciting and it gives our squad an opportunity, so long may it continue.

"In the last few weeks we created history by winning at Nottingham Forest for the first time and now we're into the fourth round.

"But it's not just that, it's about a good performance and the result. I thought we deserved to win. We created a lot of chances and could have had more goals."

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa:

"We lost because we didn't deal with some balls we should have dealt with. We didn't find the right solution from set-pieces.

"We took decisions that were not useful for us and we didn't need to take those kind of decisions.

"Every week we designate a high percentage of our time to set-pieces. So we will look at what we have done wrong and try to correct it. You correct these things with experience.

"The performance from the players today was good. But we made too many mistakes and if you don't defend well then it is very hard to win games."
