Highlights: Livingston 2-1 Hibernian

Livingston ended Hibernian's unbeaten start to the Premiership with an impressive 2-1 victory.

Spectacular strikes from Shaun Byrne and then Scott Pittman gave the hosts the points at the Tony Macaroni Arena after Daryl Horgan had put Hibs ahead.

The result means Gary Holt has two wins from two games in charge of the Lions.

Hibs are now without a league victory since the first game of the season.

Neil Lennon brought on Oli Shaw, Emerson Hyndman and Thomas Agyepong in a bid for an equaliser, but Hibs toiled to create clear chances.

Tenacious Lions never give up

Livingston's never-say-die attitude has become their trademark and it was again in evidence as they clawed their way back into the match where others may have wilted.

Hibernian have, on occasion, had problems turning dominance into goals, as was the case against Aberdeen last week and they suffered a similar malaise here.

They weren't helped though by the artificial pitch, the pace of Martin Boyle particularly hindered on the dry, sticky surface.

And it was Boyle who created Hibs' best opportunity of the first period, cutting the ball back to Lewis Allan, who completely missed his kick and Lewis Stevenson fired narrowly over.

But Horgan was the visitors' most creative player and the opening goal was just reward for his earlier endeavour, stabbing home after some pinball in the box.

Gary Holt's side had threatened only on occasion but Scott Pittman should have put them ahead before Hibs scored, only to fluff his shot into Adam Bogdan's arms.

But it was a wonderful piece of skill from Byrne that drew them level. The midfielder slalomed into the penalty area, past two defenders and sent a low shot past Bogdan, who just a few minutes later scooped a Pittman header over the bar.

He had no answer to Pittman's thunderous shot shortly afterwards though, as Livi turned the game on its head.

Perfect start for Holt as Hibs struggle up front - analysis

What a start to Gary Holt's time in charge at Livingston after two wins from two. He said before the match he didn't want to approach this game simply trying to avoid defeat and after they weathered a bit of a storm from Hibs, they took the game by the scruff of the neck.

They remain a tenacious team and look like they will be difficult to beat, particularly at home.

Dolly Menga will be a handful for opposition defences and the three-man central defence of Declan Gallagher, Craig Halkett and Alan Lithgow is tough to penetrate.

Hibs have to find a way to turn pressure into goals. Once Flo Kamberi is fit and Neil Lennon can pair him with Jamie Maclaren, they may become more clinical.

It's not exactly panic stations yet. It's their first domestic defeat but if they want to challenge at the top of the league, they can't afford to lose games like this.

'We played like strangers'- reaction

Livingston manager Gary Holt: "The performance was brilliant, they gave everything that we asked of them. We scored two really good goals.

"We got the win and to show character to come back from a goal behind is testament to the players."

"If we suddenly turn up in two weeks' time and think that we're good players and we can pass the ball about and be tippy tappy, we'll get turned over- we need to stick to what we're good at."

Hibernian head coach Neil Lennon: "We got what we deserved second half because the hungrier team won and that's down to me, so I take full responsibility for that performance."

"The equaliser turned the momentum towards Livingston. But we didn't do enough in the final third and defensively it was very very poor."

"We looked a little bit disjointed at the end of the game and we played a little bit like strangers and I need someone to take responsibility for that."
