Willian aims to stay at Chelsea and confirms bid from Barcelona

Willian has played 237 times for Chelsea since a 2013 move from Shakhtar Donetsk

Willian says he intends to stay at Chelsea, and confirmed Barcelona made a bid to sign him.

The Brazil winger, 29, has been at Stamford Bridge for five years but was linked with a move this summer.

Speaking after the 2-0 Community Shield defeat by Manchester City, he told ESPN Brasil: external-link"I always made it clear that what I wanted was to stay in the club.

"The only club I knew that really made an official offer for me was Barcelona."

He has also been linked to Manchester United and Real Madrid - who are also reportedly interested in Blues duo Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard.

Willian added: "I have my head here and I intend to continue in the club unless the club wants to sell me."

New Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has only signed two players this summer - Napoli midfielder Jorginho and back-up goalkeeper Rob Green.

    Willian deserves more respect than he's got from Chelsea so far. He always puts in a shift and can change games when he's on form. He deserves to have the security of knowing he'll be picked every week.

    Barcelona are becoming increasingly desperate as a club. When Neymar left they lost their obvious future and now they're desperately throwing money around to replace him.

    That video of £100+ million Dembele being unveiled where he couldn't do kick ups was hysterical.

    Coutinho is not a £142 million player.

    They signed Malcolm because Roma were going to.

    Barca a shambles.

    Barcelona and Real Madrid are getting rejected by everyone, it's embarrassing.

    Barcelona have wasted £260million on a player that Liverpool are better without and the keepy-up king Dembele* who everyone needs to see his pitiful unveiling ceremony last summer.

    They lost Neymar they lost their future. They've now lost Iniesta, who was the only player they could find to replace Xavi. Meltdown.

    Throughout the ups and downs of the past few seasons, even when other big name players have stopped playing for the shirt, Willian has been the one player whose effort has always impressed. As a Liverpool fan, I would have him at Anfield in a heartbeat.

    Will someone please tell Chelsea to promote some of their outstanding youth team players. They are sensational and worth their weight in gold ... but only if played in the first team.

    Noises today coming out of Chelsea training camp is that Willian will only leave Chelsea for one club, he is awaiting contact from Motherwell who he has supported man and boy 👍

    Barca and Real Madrid have been rejected by too many big players this summer to really be considered as the giants of football they were from 09-17.

    Real have been rejected by Neymar, Lewandowski, Kane, Dybala and De Gea. The only player who seems to view Real Madrid as their pre-CR7 departure-selves is Thibaut Courtois which is probably because he has kids in Madrid.

    I rate Willian but I'm kind of surprised he's opting to stay at Chelsea. He's 29, probably his last chance for a big move, and he's only started c 50% at Chelsea this last year or so

    The main reason for that was at the beginning of the season he lost his mother and went back to Brazil. When he came back he had some very good games but others was very poor. Still an asset

    @20 I remember some time ago Willian saying he wants to stay in England for rest of his life and has a dream to get British passport. Maybe it is a reason he did not move to Barcelona.

    Willian is a decent and humble person. Shame he wasn't treated better by previous managers. This is from me that hates CFC!
    Hope more people in football that are like Willian.
