Cheikhou Kouyate played three times for Senegal at the World Cup in Russia

Crystal Palace have signed midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate from West Ham on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 28-year-old Senegal international spent four seasons with the Hammers, making 129 Premier League appearances and scoring 12 goals.

He becomes the Eagles' second signing of the summer, after goalkeeper Vicente Guaita arrived on a free from Getafe.

"This is the right time to move because I needed a new challenge," Kouyate told Palace TV.

"I have good memories of West Ham but I need to come here and give my best because I like the Crystal Palace project."

    Good luck CK!! Sad to see him move on - has been a very good player for the club. Palace - a few if you saying they he is a nobody, but if you watch his movement, positioning and ability of offload quickly, you will appreciate his play. He will work in a counterattacking team well.

    Like he said, think it was the right time to move on and for a fresh approach for West Ham and himself.

    A replacement for loftus-cheek after his loan spell ended. He's a strong athletic box to box midfielder. He may not be up there with the best in England but would easily get into any team outside the top 6 in my opinion. West ham have lost a good replacement for injury prone Wilshire but hey that's palace' s gain.

    It makes a nice change for Palace to start a season with a manager from last season, and we seem to be taking our time and buying sensible players that we need, rather than the normal January panic to avoid the drop.

    Under Roy I can see a rare season of calm, with a top 10 finish and perhaps a good cup run, [Fingers crossed !!].

    I wish Kouyate well for the future. As he said in his own comments it was time to move on. Kouyate will do a decent job at CP and he's already got a friend there in Tomkins.

    hard working, honest, excellent stamina and always came across to me as a decent bloke. trouble is I never really knew what his position was and it looked like he didn't either and at 28 that's worrying. positional sense not excellent so not a holding midfielder, not enough goals to be box to box midfielder and not creative enough to be a number 10.

    Zaha is on his way, Loftus-Cheek is back home and if Benteke was any further off the boil he'd be in a freezer

    Not a bad signing for Palace here. As a WHU fan I'll be sorry to see him go. He works hard and gets stuck in when the hard work needs to be done. He has maybe not hit his best form the last 2 seasons, but the change will probably be good for him. Cheers Cheik. Good luck.

    Very interesting 'wolfie', but inaccurate enough to show your unsophisticated bias.

    West Ham's current term in the PL has seen them finish 11th on average over 6 years and Palace average 12th over 5 years.

    Relegation fodder? Basement? Bottom 3? Your evidence is ..... ?

    Good luck to him, I wish him no ill will. He was a good player after first signing for us and even if his form dropped off he will always be remembered as the first player to score at the London Stadium. His change in form seemed to coincide with Sakho playing up behind the scenes but we will never know. I’m certain he can do a good job at Palace.

    At last Palace are doing good business this window. Meyer for Cabaye and Kouyate for Lee. Now time to get Puncheon and Benteke off the payroll and bring in a proper striker. If Wickham gets fit and stays fit then that might work but he's fragile so no guarantee there. Still spaces left for a loan or two so work still to be done up front. And then there's RLC to replace or re-loan. In Woy we twust.

    No matter how you look at it, in the current football financial climate, Palace have a bargain especially if he can recapture his early West Ham form.

    Good luck to Cheik. A great servant for the Hammers, but to be honest, would struggle to get into the match day squad for next season. Has struggled in the last two seasons. Used to run non-stop, tackling everything and scoring the odd headed goal. However, for a while now, he has been slow, gets barged off the ball too easy and takes a year to turn. Watch him lay on the floor after every header!

    Some of you clearly haven't been watching closely enough. He's been utterly useless for 2 seasons now.
    #9, you must be taking the proverbial because no player who's been doing such a brilliant job costs less than £10m in today's market.
    I wish the fella well, he was brilliant for 2 seasons but has been utterly gash since.the move to LS. Time to move on. Even Noble is going to get a game b4 him

    After being great for us for the first two seasons, for the last two he's been terrible. Let's hope the move gives him the incentive he needs to start pulling his weight again, because, no doubt, on his day he's a good player.
