Yeovil Town Ladies 0-1 Sunderland Ladies

Keira Ramshaw's effort separated the two sides at Huish Park

Sunderland earned their second win of the Women's Super League One season with victory at Yeovil Town, who are yet to earn a point so far this term.

Keira Ramshaw bundled in from close range from a scrappy corner 10 minutes before half-time with the only goal.

Yeovil made progress after half-time but were unable to find their first goal of the season after three games.

Sunderland's win was their second in two away games, having beaten Reading 1-0 in September, and left them third.

Yeovil's Annie Heatherson: "There wasn't much fight, passion or heart, we lost everything that is part of Yeovil.

"We had a good talking to by the manager at half-time and he said 'sort it out'. The second half we worked hard, but we can't keep making excuses.

"There's work we've got to do, you can't be scared. We missed that fight, we weren't organised and we were a little bit clueless at times and didn't really know what our jobs were. Once we get that right I don't think we've got an issue.

"We're only three games in and we're not far off. I have no doubt in my mind we will do a lot better as the season goes on, we've got to make sure we stick together and work hard."

Sunderland captain Lucy Staniforth: "It's a bit bittersweet for us, we wanted to put on a better performance than that.

"We came in at half-time and Mel [Reay, manager] listed off how many chances we'd had and we'd not hit the target as many times as we would have liked. In the second half we didn't get so many clear-cut chances.

"We knew that they would really be looking to try and pick up some points so obviously to take all three is very pleasing to us."
