Bristol City celebrate Loren Dykes goal
The victory for Bristol City Women moved them off the bottom of the WSL 1 table

Frankie Brown scored the only goal of the game as Bristol City overcame Yeovil to record their first Women's Super League One win of the season.

Brown got the final touch as the ball was bundled home at the far post from a Yana Daniels cross.

The Vixens, beaten 6-0 by Chelsea in their opener, almost had a second with Lauren Hemp hitting the bar.

Kayleigh Green was prominent for an improved Yeovil after the break, but they could not avoid a second defeat.

Bristol City boss Willie Kirk:

"In the first half we were outstanding but in the second we were never really on it. I don't know what happened?

"But it was a good win and at the end of the day it's about putting points on the board - even if it wasn't from a perfect performance.

"We had lost 6-0 at Chelsea in our previous game but I didn't really need to pick the girls up this week - they did that themselves and trained really well.

"It was important we got this win against Yeovil because it takes some of the pressure off us. We took three points without really playing at our maximum and that gives us something to build on."

Yeovil Town striker Annie Heatherson:

"We didn't click in the first half and our awareness of where players were wasn't good. But once we'd managed to start that out in the second half it was a lot better for us.

"People might think we're going to be among the favourites for relegation this season, but we don't care about that because it's pressure we don't need.

"The season isn't over after one or two games, and we know that as it goes on we'll get better and get some results."
