Just sent in to MNC on 5 live how much I have heard "by the letter of the law" from commentators. Most ex Pros and pundits don't know any of the laws. However there is a law about foul throws, & it's hardly enforced. It is a law that goalies can only hold the ball for 6 seconds, again not enforced because Refs use 'common sense'. The Sterling red should have been avoided by using common sense.
Mike Dean go tis wrong! Sterling didn't leave the pitch and didn't deserve this. The standards of refereeing is appalling and if the card isn't revoked it will add insult to injury. As for kopptite's comments ...jealousy is a wasted emotion. City will never die!
original-koppite - Over 10 years ago, City's turnover was in the top 20 in Europe - huge support and commercial success despite failure on the pitch. Thaksin took over and his assets were frozen - almost dragging City down with him. Sheikh Mansour has invested in infrastructure and the local community with the City Council. City are bonded with the local community. Hardly plastic as you allege.
running into the crow, inciting fans to come onto the pitch - too right a yellow card and the player should know its a risk that he will be off if hes already on a yellow. Pep should have been in the stands also after his antics.
@611DougalDon't be silly!! ManCity died over 10yrs ago! The plastic replica you support can never replace the great historic club that all football fans knew and loved. So sad!!
The steward who fabricated a story about Aguero now looks mega stupid. He's made himself, his family and Bournemouth FC into a laughing stock. Fabricating stories to the Police is incredibly serious. Had the matter gone to court, he could have been locked up for perjury.
616. Was Charlie Daniel for doing exactly the same thing? No. Was Alonso booked for doing the same thing at Wembley last week? No. All any club/fan can ask for is fairness and consistency?617. Be careful what you wish for, given Bournemouth have a problem with who they employ as Stewards. From the footage, it looks like Aguero wasn't the only City player abused.
TC So when Daniels scored that worldy in the same game and left the pitch to run to the Bmouth fans (stopping at the barrier), why didn't Dean yellow card him ? If Dean's required to give a yellow why didn't he do so ? Having said all that, it's a truly memorable City victory.
Yes, i'm going to stick up for the ref', in this case. I.e...the ref' had to punish Sterling, in my eyes. The reason being that it will now hopefully prevent any other football players from encouraging fans to spill out of their seats in a over excited way. Learn this way, rather than learning after a casualty occurs. Players stay on the pitch and spectators stay in their seats.
Shearer's comments on BBC were a disgrace. What we saw was a virtual melee with fans on one side, players on the other and stewards and police in the middle apparently struggling to keep order. However much the players may have wanted to celebrate a win their actions could well have led to a serious incident of disorder. The FA should consider further punishment for players involved and the club.
Simple. He left the field of play without the Referees consent. That under the laws of the Game is a Caution (Yellow Card) He then can only come back on with the Referees consent. If a player may cause a problem with spectators on leaving the field. Under the Laws of the Game he SHALL be Cautioned (Yellow Card). So as he got two yellow cards and as the Laws have always being he is OFF. His FAULT
Although we have seen this many times from various players, there is a very fine line between celebrating and incitement. Right or wrong I think the referee erred on the side of public safety!
599. you cant be rescinded for two yellow cards.referee was 100% right to send player off. no excuse.
The fat out of control Steward at Bournemouth was a disgrace, deliberately stirring up trouble when he is supposed to be calming down the situation.Bournemouth have already dismissed his crackpot comments about Sergio who was concerned about a young fan getting treated like a terrorist. He should not be allowed to steward again.
Mike Dean was a disgrace yesterday as was Robert Madley last Monday, aided and abetted by the 4th official Michael Oliver, who also just happened to be the referee when awarding Man U a penalty and an offside goal yesterday. That is all.
As a lifelong city fan i absolutely LOVE seeing all these people crying because we are rich now. LOVE. IT. keep it coming, please!
Dean has set a precedent here on just how silly refs can get .
