Barca = disgusting, two-faced, club that always looks to crush the 'little guy', has nefarious alliances with Qataris, but pretends care for human rights & UNICEF. It screwed Arsenal over twice, with Henry and Fabregas, both sold for pittances due to emotional blackmail. It screwed Sevilla with Dani Alves. And Liverpool with Suarez. Now Dembele will not be worth his fee and no Coutinho. Deserved!
"Why is an 18 yr. old worth £166m?"Easy...because a country owns PSG & can spend any amount of money
maybe psg are fed up of real madrid winning everything. giant clubs like psg, real, united, can make back that money in 1 season. fair play to psg
The most unbelievable thing about the Mbappe "loan deal" to PSG is that why on earth would Monaco want to let their best player go on a year-long loan to ANY CLUB, let alone to their closest rivals for the French Ligue! Are they nuts? They have just ended any hope whatsoever of being French champions this season - and the next!
How can a player who is at the virtual beginning of his career be worth what a top, top player was worth only after proving their quality after many club changes that were also of vastly less money during the early and mid point of that players career? What will Mmmbop be worth if he continues to improve and moves again and again? Football could b
If PSG made a profit of only 10m euros or £9.2m on revenue of 520.9m euros or £389.6m in 2015-16 then how on earth can they afford to sign players for £198m and £166m respectively? They MUST have broken all FFP regulations - not only that, they must have thrown away the rule book!
He's not, no one that young is. All these youngsters going for stupid money now were being bought for peanuts by the cleverer European sides every year beforehand. Why? Because "potential" only means people considering a players maximum level and then predicting his worth in a number of factors. For some reason potential is now as important to players fees as actual performance and consistency!
Remember when Lineker said Rashford was the best young player in the world whilst Mbappe was tearing apart the Champions League? He never even apologised for it!
@ 82 &83. Man City still can't fill their stadium though can they? And just out of interest how may bums-on-seats do Spurs get at Wembley? Not a full stadium there either.
FIFA and UEFA must impose a transfer fee cap,The transfer fees are getting more and more ridiculous. The Buy-out clause should be paid by the PLAYER and not the club wishing to acquire his services as it is his contract not the potential buying clubs. That would put an end to these silly money buy-out clauses.
Manyoo are potentially awesome! This team beat Swansea 4-0 DeGea,Valencia,Blind.Jones,Bailey,Pogba,Matic,Mata,Lukaka,Mkhitaryan,Martial, and it could've been 8. They sign Lemar in Jan, get Shaw fit and play them at W/back they'll have a bench of Romero,Blind,Valencia,Lindelof,Smalling,Carrick,Fellaini,Herrera,Ibra,Lingard,Rashford, Young,They'll rule the World but only a muppet ever doubted that
@91Why do you think that you're being pushed away? Clubs are spending huge amounts on transfer fees and wages yes, but a lot of that revenue is coming from sponsorship and the increased TV rights. If it can be justified to the powers that be then it's fair game. In some cases it's a big 'if'...
He was involved in 37 goals last season in the same league. Not many players get those sort of numbers, particularly at 18 years old. PSG are going to be very hard to beat in both Ligue 1 and the CL. The FFP situation is a bit dodgy though. Will be interesting to see what comes of that...
@26veekay1What a shame Micheal Knighton takeover failed. What an interesting 20 years that would have made and my team would have been spared having the FGB owning and all but destroying it.
@92 Completely agree fella. Remember watching Terry Butcher mark Francis out of a game on motd and thinking, what's all the fuss about. Less than a year later he was rolling over the shot putt rink after scoring the winner in the European Cup Final.I suppose that tale on its own proves us old arses wrong but as you say, where will this madness end?
the BBc are making up stories like any other media outlet to generate interest.why can people not see this they are trying to create drama were there is none and increase tribalistic comments filled with attitude and hate.click click click. don't get sucked in and boycott the state owned media please folks regardless of your team.
Bet Brian Clough is chortling into his celestial whiskey with all this talk of Nemar; wasn't he called mad for being the first to pay £1m for a player? As a life-longForest fan I remember thinking, in 1979, 'where, and when, will it all end?' 38 years later and I still don't know the answer...
We can talk about talented footballers all day long but let's be honest. £165m. It's unheard of, really. I feel like I'm being pushed away from the game that I love, it's just absolutely ridiculous now.Support your local team because this is becoming absolutely terrible.
