BBC Sport - Niall Currie 'proud' to take over at hometown club Portadown

Currie 'proud' to come home to Ports

Niall Currie says he is "proud, excited and humbled" to be named manager at his hometown club Portadown after ending his five-year stint at Ards.

Currie admitted that "there were a few tears" as he opted to leave Ards but said that he had "no regrets" about taking the Shamrock Park job.

The new manager faces a monumental task in attempting to prevent Portadown from being relegated as they stand 13 points adrift at the bottom of the Irish Premiership but added that he will demand his players battle for every point.
