Anthony Grant: Port Vale midfielder banned until Christmas after referee incident
Port Vale midfielder Anthony Grant has been banned for an additional five games by the Football Association after returning to the field to remonstrate with a referee following a sending off.
Grant, 29, was given two yellow cards in Vale's 2-1 win over Fleetwood on 12 November and had already served a one-match suspension for the offence.
After a review of the incident, the FA extended the ban and fined him £2,000.
Grant will not be available until Vale's game with Walsall on Boxing Day.
It means he will miss the visit of Oldham on Tuesday, followed by the trip to Shrewsbury on Saturday.
The suspension also includes the FA Cup second-round tie with Hartlepool and league matches at home to Northampton and away at AFC Wimbledon.
