Derry City duo Ryan McBride and Rory Patterson have signed new contracts with the club.

Defender McBride and striker Patterson agreed terms to stay at the Brandywell for another two years, taking them to the end of the 2018 season.

"They are two top quality players and their deals run in tandem with my own contract which I think is sensible," said manager Kenny Shiels.

Derry recently finished third in the 2017 Premier Division campaign.

They won their last four fixtures and qualified for next year's Europa League.

"The fact that our top players are staying here shows what direction we are looking to take the club over the next few years," added boss Shiels.

"We have now re-signed 12 players - Gerard Doherty, Conor McDermott, Ryan McBride, Dean Jarvis, Aaron McEneff, Barry McNamee, Joshua Daniels, Nathan Boyle, Ronan Curtis, Rory Holden, Ben Doherty and Rory Patterson - and they are all local, which is good."
