Gervinho set to miss Nations Cup
There are fears that Gervinho will miss next year's Africa Cup of Nations after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament.
The injury has already forced Gervinho out of Ivory Coast's World Cup qualifier against Morocco on 12 November and a friendly with France three days later,
The former Arsenal striker now on the books of Hebei Fortune in China joins Manchester United defender Eric Bailly on the sidelines.
Bailly injured his knee in last month's 4-0 defeat at Chelsea and is out for several weeks.
Better news though for the Elephants is that Hertha Berlin striker Salomon Kalou, who missed last month's qualifier with Mali, is back and in the squad announced by coach Michel Dussuyer.
Three new faces are goalkeeper Axel Kacou of French side Tours, striker Nicolas Pepe, also based in France with Angers, and midfielder Jules Eboue of Russian side Krasnodar.
