Crusaders are out of the Challenge Cup after this replay defeat by Scottish visitors Livingston at Seaview.

League One leaders Livingston started strongly before a youthful Crues side ended the first half on top.

Livingston set up a quarter-final against The New Saints thanks to second-half strikes from Nicky Cadden, Raffaele De Vita and Liam Buchanan.

Livi won the original tie 2-1 but they fielded an ineligible player and the SPFL ordered a replay.

The West Lothian club were also fined £4,000 after Alan Lithgow played in the 7 October game when he was suspended.

Scots on top

Livingston forced the early pace with Sean Crighton heading over from a Cadden corner before Michael Doughtery kept out Dale Carrick's 25-yard shot.

Fringe players also featured in a Crusaders team which began to threaten late in the first half.

Michael Carvill saw his powerful strike turned round the post by Gary Maley and the keeper also denied Marcio Soares.

Danny Mullen set up Cadden to fire into the bottom corner for the opener on 66 minutes.

De Vita side-footed home from a Josh Mullin cut-back eight minutes later and Buchanan slotted in two minutes from time to seal the victory.
