Liam Donnelly: Hartlepool United fail with appeal against defender's red card at Barnet

Hartlepool have been told their appeal has been unsuccessful

Hartlepool United's appeal against Liam Donnelly's sending-off at Barnet has been rejected.

Pools sought to have the red card overturned after the defender, 20, was dismissed midway through the second half of their 3-2 defeat at The Hive.

His team were 2-0 up when he brought down Bees striker John Akinde, who scored with the resulting penalty.

Donnelly must now serve a one-match ban, meaning he will miss Sunday's FA Cup first-round tie against Stamford.
