Welsh Premier & non-League round-up

Dafabet Welsh Premier League

Friday, 23 September

Bala Town 1-1 Bangor City: Former Wales striker Dan Nardiello opened for the visitors and Mike Hayes levelled late on as two of the struggling sides in the WPL met in the first match on the new pitch at Maes Tegid. Bala, who lost Tony Davies to a red card four minutes from the end, had previously lost two on the spin and Bangor were three games without a win before this encounter.

Newtown 2-4 Airbus UK Broughton: Airbus secured an away day victory thanks to Ryan Edwards' early brace. Alex Fletcher pulled one back for the hosts before Tony Gray struck. Jason Oswell's goal set up a grandstand finish, but Jamie Menagh clinched the points in injury time.

Cardiff Met 1-0 Aberystwyth Town: Cardiff Met produced a third victory of the week to move up to fifth in the table. Chris Baker scored the winner for the hosts on 62 minutes.

Sunday, 25 September

Cefn Druids 0-0 Llandudno: Llandudno earned another draw after also coming away with an excellent away point at unbeaten Gap Connah's Quay in midweek. Druids are winless since the second match of the season and a tight-affair was expected.

Gap Connah's Quay 2-0 Rhyl: Unbeaten Connah's Quay made amends for their failure to beat Llandudno in midweek by beating visitors Rhyl with Les Davies and Mike Wilde scoring.

New Saints 2-1 Carmarthen Town: Greg Draper denied Carmarthen with the opening and last goals of the game after Ceri Morgan had levelled. The visitors made the toughest trip in the WPL on the back of a 5-0 defeat by Aberystwyth and manager Mark Aizlewood was without five players through injury and suspension. The New Saints have now scored 36 goals and conceded only five so far this term.
