Northampton Town: Rob Page says team 'will be ok' after first league win

Northampton opened their League One campaign with five draws

Manager Rob Page says Northampton's first league win of the season shows "that when the team gets both sides of it together" they will do well.

The Cobblers defeated MK Dons 3-2, scoring all their goals in the opening 30 minutes of the match.

Page's side had only scored three goals in their first five games, but have put in strong defensive performances.

"Defensively we did exactly today what we have done all season," the 42-year-old told BBC Radio Northampton.

"The area we needed to improve on was chances created, and when we do create the chances to be more clinical, and I thought we did that, I thought we were exceptional."

Northampton drew their first five league games after winning promotion from League Two last season.

"We thoroughly deserved the three points," Page added.

"What pleases me most is that the performance was there for everyone to see."
