Lucas Akins: Burton take positives from Championship debut loss
Striker Lucas Akins says Burton felt immediately at home in the Championship despite losing a seven-goal thriller at Nottingham Forest on their debut.
Burton won back-to-back promotions to join two-time European Cup winners Forest in the second tier this season.
Before Saturday's 4-3 defeat, only four of Albion's starting team had previous experience of playing in the division.
"A lot of players made their Championship bow and a lot people looked quite at home here," Akins said.
Talking to BBC Radio Derby, Akins continued: "I felt that we more than matched them and that there are a lot of positives to take from it. We are confident that we can carry on and do well in this league now."
The striker scored the club's first goal in the Championship, levelling for the Brewers before Lloyd Dyer put them ahead at the City Ground for the first and only time.
While Tom Naylor headed home a third Brewers goal in the last minute, Forest had done enough to secure all three points.
Akins said it felt like "an opportunity missed" and that they had themselves to blame for defeat.
"We have to work hard now on the training pitch to eradicate the problems that we cause ourselves," he said.
