Alloa Athletic and Livingston were the biggest winners on the opening day of Scottish League One as promoted Queen's Park lost at home.

The Wasps beat Peterhead 4-0 while Livi, who like Alloa were demoted last season, were 5-1 home winners over Stranraer.

Airdrieonians won 3-1 away to the Spiders while Brechin City were 2-1 winners over Stenhousemuir.

Promoted East Fife and Albion Rovers played out a 2-2 draw.

Jordan Kirkpatrick (twice), Kevin Cawley and Isaac Layne were Alloa's scorers, while Scott Pitman's effort and braces from Danny Mullen and Liam Buchanan gave Livi their win, Craig Malcolm replying for Stranraer.

Last season's League Two winners East Fife were in front twice against Albion Rovers through Kevin Smith and Ross Dunlop's own goal, Calum Ferguson and Ryan Wallace levelling for the visitors.

Alan Trouten and Ross Caldwell were on target for Brechin, Fraser Kerr briefly bringing Stenny level.

An Iain Russell penalty was added to by Marc Fitzpatrick's goal for Airdrie at Hampden but Fitzpatrick then scored an own goal to give Queen's Park hope before Adam Brown settled it.
