Championship: Cardiff City start 2016-17 season at Birmingham

Cardiff drew 1-1 against Birmingham City on the final day of the 2015-16 season

Cardiff City will start the 2016-17 Championship season away to Birmingham City on Saturday, 6 August.

The two teams drew 1-1 at Cardiff City Stadium on the final day of the 2015-16 campaign, Russell Slade's last game in charge of the Bluebirds.

Paul Trollope's first home game as City boss will be against Queens Park Rangers a week later on 13 August.

Huddersfield Town away will be Cardiff's final game of the regular season on Sunday, 7 May.

Newport County will be at home to Mansfield Town in their opening game of the League Two season on 6 August.

The Exiles are at Leyton Orient the following weekend and Warren Feeney's men end the season at home against Notts County on 6 May.

In the EFL Cup first round, Cardiff City will be away to Bristol Rovers while Newport County will host MK Dons.

The ties will be played in the week commencing Monday, 8 August.
