Motherwell: New deals for Craig Samson, David Ferguson & Craig Moore
Motherwell have signed goalkeeper Craig Samson on a new one-year deal.
The 32-year-old made only two appearances last term as he provided back-up to Conor Ripley.
Now Ripley has returned to Middlesbrough after a season-long loan, giving the former Ross County, Dundee, St Mirren and Kilmarnock keeper a chance to push for a starting place.
Also signing new 12-month contracts with the Fir Park club are defender David Ferguson and striker Craig Moore.
Both have tasted first-team action with Motherwell, but last season they had spells out on loan.
Moore, 21, was at Ayr United, where he scored 14 goals in 23 starts, as he helped the Honest Men to promotion to the Championship.
Ferguson, 20, was with Alloa Athletic in the Championship and League One side Airdrieonians.
McGhee told the club's official website: "We're pleased to have the first of our business complete in what will no doubt be a busy summer.
"Sammy was superb all season long and only failed to get in because of Connor Ripley's form, but I have faith in him.
"Craig Moore has been fantastic for Ayr and we've been watching him regularly.
"He'll come back in pre-season and make a strong pitch to be a regular for us.
"David has also been out on loan and his performances there and with the under-20s are deserving of a deal.
"Like Craig, he'll start pre-season with us to stake a claim to be a regular at Motherwell.
"We're still in advanced discussions with several other players and hope to conclude deals shortly."
Meanwhile, defender Jack McMillan and midfielder Ross MacLean, who have been part of Motherwell's under-20 squad, have signed on for another year.
