Darlington 1883: National League North next after phoenix club achieve third promotion
Darlington 1883 will play in the National League North next season after sealing the Northern Premier League Premier Division championship.
The Quakers needed at least a draw against Whitby on Thursday to win the seventh-tier title, but won 7-1.
It is the third promotion in four seasons for the club, who formed after the demise of Darlington FC in 2012.
"I'm very proud. You fall in love with the club the longer you're here," boss Martin Gray told BBC Tees.
The fan-owned club, who took on Darlington FC's assets after they ceased to exist, were placed into the ninth-tier Northern League Division One in 2012 and won the league in their first season.
They then won the play-offs of the eighth-tier Northern Premier League Division One North in 2013-14 last season.
