Steve Davis: Crewe Alexandra boss refuses to accept relegation is inevitable
Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says he will never give up hope that they can still avoid relegation from League One despite their precarious position.
The Railwaymen are 11 points adrift of safety at the bottom of the table with seven games remaining.
"I'll always be an optimist who believes you can always achieve things," 50-year-old Davis told BBC Radio Stoke.
"If I said 'that's it, we're down', you'd question my mentality."
Saturday's home defeat by Bradford was Crewe's fourth in a row and stretched their winless run to 10 games.
Their only victory in their last 19 matches was a 2-0 win against Rochdale in February.
"It's frustrating for everyone at the club," Davis added.
"Our performances this season have been promising but we've sort of accepted that we're going to succumb to defeat - that's more of a mental thing.
"I can't really do much about the little errors we make and it's the little things that have cost us all season."
