Bristol Rovers boss Darrell Clarke says he is still haunted by his side's relegation to the Conference in 2014.

Clarke was appointed manager in March 2014, but saw his side relegated with a final-day defeat by Mansfield.

Rovers won promotion at the first time of asking last season and are sixth in the table ahead of Saturday's game against the Stags.

"I'm very thankful to the fans for giving me the opportunity to turn the football club around," Clarke said.

"It was the darkest day by a country mile and it still haunts me now the game two years ago, but a lot's moved forward since then.

"There will always be a minority of fans that certainly won't accept that and for that I apologise.

"But we've moved on, and me and my staff are working hard as well as the players to keep the club moving forward."
