Truro City have lost just one league game since the end of August

Truro City manager Steve Tully says his side have exceeded his expectations since joining National League South.

City won promotion from the Southern Premier League via the play-offs and are now two points off the play-off spots in English football's sixth tier.

"Our main aim at the start of the season was to stay up," Tully said.

"But we've been on a good run, we've lost two games in the last 19, so it's a good run, but we want to continue that," he told BBC Radio Cornwall.

Truro host Bath City on New Year's day, having beaten them 3-0 at Twerton Park just after Christmas.

"We're not happy sitting where we are, I firmly believe that the players we've got at the club we should be pushing for the play-offs, and if you're in the play-offs anything can happen," Tully added.

"We're in with a good shout, if we keep everyone fit and raring to go, we've got a good squad about us, there's players fighting to get into the team, which is great, so we're doing well.

"Come the end of January and early February we'll know where we're at, and I firmly believe that we'll be in the mix."
