Former Derby County defender Paul Williams has been appointed as first-team coach at Nottingham Forest.

The 44-year-old was part of the backroom set-up at Brentford, stepping up to the role of assistant to Lee Carsley in September until head coach Dean Smith was appointed last month.

Williams initially joined the Bees in July 2015.

He played 195 games for the Rams and also made 199 appearances for Coventry City.
