Chester defender Michael Kay has decided to leave the National League side to take a break from football.
The 25-year-old moved to the Blues in the summer of 2013 from Tranmere and has made 77 appearances, scoring twice.
The former England U17-international came through the youth system at Sunderland, but failed to make an appearance for their first team.
"He always gives everything he's got for us," manager Steve Burr told the club website.
"Michael has told us he's decided to take a break and he's looking at other avenues in his life to proceed with and we respect that.
"He knows he's always welcome back here at the football club and I've wished him well with wherever things take him."
