Jack Smith's heroic double thrust Lowland League East Kilbride into uncharted Scottish Cup territory at the expense of League One Stenhousemuir.

The Kilby striker hit the winner in the first half of extra time after the third round replay finished 1-1 after 90 minutes, with Stenny down to 10 men.

It was an identical finish to his early opener but Colin McMenamin had headed the visitors level before the break.

East Kilbride face Lothian Thistle or Huntly in the fourth round.

Their replay takes place at Ainslie Park on Monday night after it fell victim to weather conditions on Saturday.

Kilby took the lead just a few minutes into the encounter at K Park, where swirling wind and rain wreaked havoc throughout.

Craig Hastings threaded a pass for the lightening quick Smith, who took a touch before firing past Stenny goalkeeper Jamie Barclay and into the far corner.

In similar fashion to the 2-2 draw these sides had at Ochilview last weekend, the Warriors took a while to settle but equalised when McMenamin rose to head in at the far post.

Stenny defender Ewan Murray made a great clearance from another Smith effort and Jason Scotland blasted a free-kick wide for the visitors.

Midway through the second half East Kilbride were boosted by the dismissal of Stenny winger Alan Cook for two bookings.

That gave Kilby the impetus going into extra time and it was Hastings again who cleverly played in Smith to direct a shot into the same corner.

Smith, son of former Airdrie and Dunfermline striker Andy Smith, was booked for removing his shirt in the middle of Storm Desmond to celebrate, but that was the least of his worries.

More concerning was Stuart Malcolm hitting the bar with a header that almost brought Stenny level.

However, East Kilbride prevailed and a pitch invasion at the full time whistle summed up the joy of their Scottish Cup journey.
