Match ends, Bristol City 1, Burnley 2.
First-half headers from Ben Mee and Michael Keane handed Burnley victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
The hosts had the better of the first half, with Bobby Reid and Jonathan Kodjia both forcing Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton into smart saves.
But Mee nodded the Clarets ahead from David Jones's corner on 34 minutes, and Keane repeated the trick soon after.
City defender Derrick Williams struck a post after the break, before Kodjia bundled in a last-gasp consolation.
It was too little, too late for Steve Cotterill's side, meaning they have now lost three of their opening five league games - having lost the same number after 28 matches on their way to the League One title in 2014-15.
Burnley have recorded back-to-back victories for the first time since last November, after managing just two draws and one defeat before last week's win over Brentford.
The Robins had the better of the play in the first 45 minutes, creating numerous chances through Reid, Kodjia and centre-half Aden Flint.
But the visitors twice struck from corners in the space of six minutes, taking their tally of set-piece goals this season to five.
And, despite having to withstand some pressure after the interval, Sean Dyche's team stood firm to move up to ninth in the Championship table.
Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill:
"No one is more frustrated than I am at the moment, but I know we are playing the right way and there is no chance of us departing from it.
"We haven't got the points we deserved from our opening games, in which the performances have been very good.
"Unfortunately, we keep paying dearly for mistakes and that was the case again today, both with the defending at corners and the build-ups that led to them."
Burnley manager Sean Dyche:
"Bristol City were really good in the first half and our goals came somewhat against the run of things. They were very impressive, but we showed the organisation and commitment to keep them out.
"In the second half we were much better, without being particularly fluid. We managed the game well and calmed it down.
"Sometimes you need to do that because you can't be brilliant every week. Now we can use the time before the next game, knowing we already have good points on the board."
