Oldham Athletic 1-1 Shrewsbury Town

A goal apiece in the second half saw Oldham Athletic and Shrewsbury Town share the points in League One.

The Latics went ahead on 50 minutes through a Liam Kelly penalty after Matt Tootle fouled David Dunn in the area.

Shrewsbury equalised when James Collins dispossessed Jonathan Burn before rounding keeper Joel Coleman to finish into an empty net.

Substitute Shaun Whalley had a chance to win it late for the Town, but his right-foot shot was saved by Coleman.

Oldham Athletic boss Darren Kelly told BBC Radio Manchester:

"I feel as if it's two points lost. I'm disappointed that it is not a win, especially as when we controlled a majority of the game.

"We'll move on, we've got a game to look forward to (against Bury) next week and we'll make sure we're ready for it.

"We'll do a lot of preparation this week and we'll prepare properly. No doubt it will be a big challenge, but we'll be ready for it."

Shrewsbury Town manager Micky Mellon told BBC Radio Shropshire:

"We have got to be satisfied with a point - but it took us far too long to get going and we are miffed as to why it has taken us so long to play with any kind of freedom.

"The penalty changed the game, but I felt we could have nicked it. We had a few chances cleared off the line and it could have been a different story.

"The players can be absolutely pleased with how they have come into the game - but I just don't understand why it took so long to get going."
