Hull City's Abel Hernandez has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association after he appeared to punch Manchester United's Phil Jones.
The incident, in the 70th minute of Hull's 0-0 draw with United on Sunday, was not seen by match officials but caught on video.
The result, coupled with a win for Newcastle, relegated the Tigers.
The Uruguayan striker has until Wednesday to reply to the charge.
A disciplinary panel will review the footage and determine whether they consider it a sending-off offence.
For retrospective action to be taken, the decision by the panel must be unanimous.
