Midfielder Joe Clarke has left Wrexham by mutual consent after four years with the Conference club.
Ex-Darlington player Clarke was signed by then manager Dean Saunders in 2011 and went on to play in 150 games.
The 26-year-old's departure follows talks with new boss Gary Mills.
"We came to the conclusion that with other clubs starting to fill up their squads for next season, it's best if I started looking at what was available elsewhere," said Clarke.
"Naturally I'm disappointed not to be part of a squad that I'm sure will have a successful season for Wrexham next year, but this happens in football and I understand that."
