Loui Fazakerley takes caretaker charge of Welling after more than 200 appearances for the club as a player

Conference side Welling United have sacked manager Jody Brown after taking just one point from nine matches since he joined the club in December.

Brown took charge after former boss Jamie Day left to become manager of Conference South side Ebbsfleet United.

Welling have slipped from 16th to 20th in the table since Brown was appointed, one spot above the relegation zone.

The club have named defender Loui Fazakerley, 30, as their caretaker manager "for the foreseeable future".

Brown was manager of Ryman League Grays Athletic before being given the chance to step up to the top level of English non-league football for the first time.

His reign at Park View Road lasted just 73 days.
