Italy's Serie A derby between city rivals Sampdoria and Genoa was postponed shortly after the scheduled start on Saturday evening following heavy rain in Genoa.

The kick-off, scheduled for 19.45 GMT at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, was delayed by match officials.

After a 20-minute wait, match referee Gianluca Rocchi tested the waterlogged surface and called the game off.

It may now be played on Sunday at 14.00 GMT.
