Stevenage 3-2 Cambridge United

Stevenage recorded their third successive victory with a home win against Cambridge United.

Charlie Lee's lob over goalkeeper Chris Dunn gave Boro the lead before Ryan Bird equalised from close range.

But Tom Pett converted Lee's cross and Dean Parrett scored from outside the area to put the home side in control.

Cambridge posted a late fightback, with striker Adam Cunnington making it 3-2 with five minutes left to play, but Stevenage held on to secure victory.

Stevenage boss Graham Westley told BBC Three Counties Radio:

Westley on Stevenage v Cambridge

"Credit to the players for being able to put on such a strong performance in their second game in 48 hours.

"They were tremendous in the first half, playing some great football with terrific energy levels. It is testament to their professionalism as the same 11 went again, which is not easy to do.

"We scored three and it could have been a lot more, we had plenty of chances in the second half to add to it.

"Territorially, in the second half we played on the back foot and we suffered a bit in possession terms. But the boys had the lead, they didn't need to go forward and they seemed happy just to see the game out."
