Tom Nichols scored in stoppage time as Exeter City completed a recovery from 2-0 down to end Shrewsbury Town's run of six successive League Two wins.

James Collins forged a two-goal half-time lead for Shrewsbury with a long-range strike followed by a tap-in.

Nichols reduced arrears when he turned in Matt Grimes' cross before David Wheeler headed a 75th minute equaliser.

Nichols then nodded home for the winner a minute into injury time to lift Exeter to ninth in the table.

If Shrewsbury had hung on to win, they would have gone top of League Two, but instead they drop to fourth ahead of next Saturday's home game against second-placed Burton Albion.

Shrewsbury Town manager Micky Mellon told BBC Radio Shropshire:

"It's difficult to blame the whole group of players - but we were a bit loose in the box and we got punished for it. The disappointing thing is that we have three big centre halves who have been brilliant all season.

"To get to the second half with a two-goal lead and lose an early goal so easily, when you are playing three centre backs, that was not good enough.

"We had chances to be three or four up in the first half but half-time came at the right time for Exeter. They had terrific energy in the second half and threw everything at us."
