Crawley Town 2-2 Scunthorpe United

Dean Leacock
Dean Leacock scored his first goal of the season for Crawley

League One strugglers Scunthorpe blew a 2-0 lead to draw at Crawley.

The Iron led when Paddy Madden finished from Gary McSheffrey's cut-back, before Lyle Taylor doubled the advantage from another McSheffrey cross.

The hosts pulled a goal back through Dean Leacock's header from Ryan Dickson's cross.

Izale McLeod levelled from the spot after Jennison Myrie-Williams fouled Dickson to see Scunthorpe slip to second-bottom.

Groves on Crawley v Scunthorpe

Crawley Town assistant Paul Groves told BBC Surrey:

"You want to come away with a win and you want to be on top of the game for 80 to 90 minutes. You want to take the game to the opposition and we haven't done that long enough today.

"The first half wasn't good enough and it wasn't until the second half when the fans got behind and helped us.

"It took too long to get to that stage, but you have to give the players credit for keeping going.

"You've got to give a big thank you to the fans in terms of how much they stuck with the players and how much a difference that made."

Scunthorpe United manager Mark Robins told BBC Radio Humberside:

Robins on Crawley v Scunthorpe

"Obviously I'm disappointed but for 70 to 75 minutes, I thought we were really good.

"We then some frailties showed and we gave them a little bit of time. We dealt with the first cross that came in and the second one that came in dropped off and left it free and unmarked.

"They got a foothold in the game then and they could sense they could put us under a little bit of pressure - and that was the disappointment of the day.

"I thought we controlled it absolutely from start to right up until the second goal went in."
