Port Vale 2-2 Scunthorpe United

Scunthorpe's 10 men came from behind to earn a point against Port Vale but still slid to the bottom of League One.

Neal Bishop struck from six yards out to put the Iron ahead, but Vale responded with Ben Williamson's header.

Substitute Chris Birchall gave the hosts the lead after Adam Yates had been denied by keeper Bobby Olejnik.

Former Vale winger Jennison Myrie-Williams was sent off for a second bookable offence before Lyle Taylor glanced in a header to earn a draw.

However, with Crewe beating high-flying Peterborough, Scunthorpe dropped to the foot of the table behind Walsall on goal difference.

Port Vale manager Rob Page told BBC Radio Stoke:

"I am bitterly disappointed. It feels like a defeat. I have made my feelings clear to the players. From the first whistle there were aspects of our game that weren't what they should have been.

"We got off to a terrible start and that is when we had to change things slightly. You respect the fact that we had the character to come back into it but we shouldn't have had to.

"At half-time we tried to change it slightly and play more in their half. I put Birchy on and he got what we thought was going to be the winner.

"But instead of us being on the front foot and dictating to them, they dictated the tempo of the game to us. And they were down to 10 men as well. That's why it is a bitter pill to swallow."

Scunthorpe United manager Mark Robins told BBC Radio Humberside:

"We were very good in the second half. The players gave me everything and they even gave me a headache when Myrie-Williams got sent off.

"We were controlling the game and we broke them down and started to get forward and create opportunities.

"We lost the momentum after the sending-off, which I'm not best pleased about because it was a poor one. It cost us that momentum. We conceded a goal which was a poor goal, and then we worked our socks off to get back in it.

"There's some really good stuff and there's some really, really frustrating stuff. But we know that's the case and we've just got to keep working. But, as long as they give me that effort, that's all I can ask at this stage."
