Irish Premiership: Linfield 1-0 Warrenpoint Town
Linfield laboured before marking their return to home action at Windsor Park with a win over battling bottom club Warrenpoint Town.
Ivan Sproule was involved in any decent work by the Blues and his cross set up Mark Haughey to nod the only goal of the game on 36 minutes.
Earlier, Sproule had fired wide and also produced a couple of good crosses.
But the Blues lost their way in the second half and Stephen McCabe wasted a great Warrenpoint chance on 73 minutes.
McCabe only had Jonathan Tuffey to beat but he fired straight at the keeper as the Blues blushes were spared.
However with Andrew Waterworth and Chris Hegarty both missing for the Blues, manager Warren Feeney will surely to content that his players were able to earn another three points.
Prior to Haughey's goal, Sproule set up two opportunities for the Blues as he supplied dangerous crosses but the ball evaded his team-makes on both occasions.
Warrenpoint's best first-half effort was a curling 20-yard free-kick from Ciaran O'Connor which went just wide.
The win means Linfield are level on goal difference with leaders Portadown although the Blues only occupy fourth spot with Ballymena United and Glenavon also on 14 points.
