Oldham Athletic defender Adam Lockwood has agreed a new one-year contract with the League One side.

The 32-year-old, who started last season at Bury, joined the Latics in January and went on to make 19 appearances last term, scoring twice.

"He has been exceptional on and off the field and will be an important member of our squad for next season," manager Lee Johnson told the club website.

"I believe he will only improve as his conditioning gets to its peak."

Lockwood will miss the first game of next season through suspension after he was sent off against Notts County in their final match of 2013-14.
