Portsmouth 1-0 Accrington Stanley

Jake Jervis

Jake Jervis scored the only goal of the match as Portsmouth bounced back from Saturday's heavy defeat at Scunthorpe.

Jervis cut in from the left and beat Accrington keeper Marcus Bettinelli to score the fourth goal since signing for Pompey on a permanent deal in January.

Michael Drennan and Romain Padovani missed good chances for the hosts before Bettinelli pushed a long-range Daniel Alfei shot on to the bar.

Stanley gave their 61 fans little to cheer although Peter Murphy came close.

Accrington manager James Beattie told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"I'm very pleased with the performance. We restricted Portsmouth to no shots in the first half.

"One mistake and we were punished, but their reaction to the goal further cements my feelings for the side and the spirit they've got.

"They're desperately unlucky not to get something from the game."
