Colin Cooper: Hartlepool boss encouraged by Coventry display

Hartlepool United manager Colin Cooper believes his side will gain confidence from their displays against Coventry.

After the League Two side succumbed to a stoppage-time goal from Leon Clarke in

Cooper told BBC Tees: "We took a very good team, who play in a league above us, very close and often matched them.

"Obviously we're disappointed to lose so late but I believe in these players and they'll take a lot from the games."

Coventry are one of League One's form sides having lost only two of their last 11 league matches.

But they mustered just two shots on target at Victoria Park 11 days ago and needed a 93rd-minute winner from 14-goal striker Clarke in the replay.

"Leon Clarke and Callum Wilson, along with Nahki Wells and James Hanson at Bradford, are one of the best front pairings in that division," added Cooper.

"For one moment, we didn't defend our box and it cost us.

"Our lads are young and are learning but giving me everything."
